Though the majority of books I read are fiction, my favorite genre is biographies. My reading journal is chock full of them. Some of my favorites over the past year include:
Personal History by Katharine Graham, a meaty book by the owner of the Washington Post.
Get Happy by Gerald Clarke, the pill-popping, stage mom saga of Judy Garland.
Clarke also wrote Capote, the riveting story of Truman Capote and his obsession with the story behind his novel, In Cold Blood.
And I have this calling me now from my bookshelf: Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson.
So, I thought it would be fun to fill September's Book Bag with a biography/autobiography of the winner's choice. The possibilities are endless: Princess Diana, Warren Buffet, Audrey Hepburn, Dr. Seuss, or the Beatles. You choose!
Now, for the bag: This month's goody is a Vera Bradley Bucket Tote. Since we're in the "you choose" mode, the winner may choose the pattern. The pattern shown here is Kensington. I love fiction but most of all, but also read poetry and non-fiction. I don't read biographies really regularly, though, so I was glad to see your list of recommendations!

The bag is great--I love the Peacock pattern. I'm not sure whose biography I would pick, but it sure would be fun to think about.

I found you through Kat's blog at JustaBeachKat...I love that you give away books...I have several myself that I should pay forward...I just need to get up and do it! I love the thought of a good biography...the ones you listed sound great...Please throw my hat into the "hat"...I would be pleased to have just the book...much less the bag! Wow!

I love Vera Bradley! I also used to love biographies...specifically of Helen Keller. I was fascinated by her in my younger years. Now, I fit the fiction pretty hard...it's a nice escape from reality!

I enjoy biographies, too. I would have to think about it, though we watched the film Bobby last night--fascinating, and I am interested to learn more about his (Robert Kennedy's) life.

I love books too! I used to be the media director in the church library. Couldn't read them all though! My motto was "So many books...so little time!"

I use to read biographies\autobiographies all the time, especially in my single days. I love old movies, so I generally drifted towards the old Hollywood stars. :)

I LOVE biographies! My hubby is always scolding me for reading only those types of things. If I get started reading one, I normally stick with them for a long time! LOL! I'm fascinated by that genre. I am dying to read a biography on Bob Woodward! So, count me in for the biographies and the Vera bag! Vera bags are to die for!

I read Hilary Clinton's biography when it came out a couple of years ago. Nothing spectacular, more of a whitewashing propoganda, I'm sure. And now Bill's come up with a new book and it's everywhere in my local supermarket. Wonder if its any good?
