I'm Really Not a Wreck, I Just Play One for my Son

9.05.2007

Adam's newest gig is asking everyone to "crwy" whenever we ask him to do something.

It all started a couple weeks ago when I asked him to give me a kiss and he said, "mope!" and I pretended to cry. He thought that was a hoot, so I started crying for a kiss and crying for a hug.

I spent half my days and nights crying and begging.

It stopped being so fun when he demanded tears for virtually every request: picking up toys, taking a bath, eating, going to bed....

It won't be long before I'll be pulling out the 'ole Mommy ammo and turning the tables.

"I'll give you something to cry about!"

It also won't be long before I'll have to do more than muster a little fake "boo-hoo" to get a hug or a kiss out of my boy.

So, for now, I'll gladly play along.

Ha! It's funny how quickly those little turkeys learn tricks like that! I am constantly reminding my older children to watch what they do or say around the 'baby'. She picks up on it so quickly.

Judi :

What a hoot. You are right, before you know it you will have to beat him to get a hug or kiss!

Angi :

My 5 yr. old still falls for reverse psychology. Ask him for a kiss, he says "No". Then we say, don't ever kiss me again - NO, NO Kisses! And he's all over us. Works every time!

An Iowa Mom :

That is so funny. I have asked Molly (age 2) for a hug and she'll say, "NO!" ... I pretend to cry and she said ... "I said NO! Stop crying!" Hhhmmmm, wonder where she got that from?

:)

Janis :

My kids don't fall for that anymore. Even my youngest (3), just looks at me like I have grown a third head with a small smile on her face. Enjoy it while it lasts! Blessings to you!

Carrie :

Oh that's too funny!
Hope you're having a good week!
God bless :)

Susan :

My sons are now grown men but they still hug their momma (ME) everytime they see me. They don't have to grow out of that affection :o)

Cute post title and picture!

My daughter would be like your son. My oldest is so happy to comply - wish I could figure out what I did!! ;)

So funny! They do watch us, don't they?

Oh goodness girl. You are something else :)

Tammy :

Oh, that is too cute!

My littlest at five loves lots and lots of cuddles...just not kisses! Maybe I need to start crying!

justabeachkat :

Oh, the things we'll do for just a little kiss or hug!

Hugs!

Susan :

Funny. My Mom did that to my girls a week ago when they cried when I went out to run errangs. Like its torture to be with her. Ha! She had them cracking up with her fake crying. :)

I have tried the fake crying to get hugs though and it doesn't fly with mine. Ho hum...

Happy Working Mom :

My kids both did this when they were babies! I had forgotten all about it until now...it was so cute, but you're right, it got very annoying after a while!
