About Face

1.15.2009

Father New Year dropped a box from Sephora on my doorstep the other day. Apparently he thinks I needed to pump up my skin care routine for 2009.

At least these little goodies might make it kinda fun...

I've been reading rave reviews about the Clarsonic Skin Care System so I decided to try it. It came with 3 sample size cleansers for various skin types. So far, so good. I love it.
For some reason possibly because I have not had more than 3 consecutive hours of sleep since 2004 due to various and sundry small children and other things that go bump in the night I have dark circles under my eyes. I conceal - oh how I spackle and layer - but it seems I never look fully rested.
My fabulous facialist (Amy at Jolie The Day Spa in Buckhead for my local readers) suggested Shiseido's brightening eye treatment. I'll try anything... And I'll let you know if it makes me look like I get 10 hours of beauty rest a night. Now that would be a miracle!
I love Dior's Show mascara, so when I heard there was a new Dior lengthening mascara called "Iconic", I was in. But sadly, I am now out. I don't like the brush.... it's one of those plastic skinny thingies. I like soft fuller brushes. So, this does not rank 5 stars. Sorry Dior.
And finally, a little Amazing Grace hot salt scrub by Philosophy.
A perfect way to end the day.

Tina Leigh :

I dog-eared an article in Real Simple Magazine about the "Power Cleaner" thinking I should investigate it. Thanks for the info.

Let me know how that eye treatment works - I could definitely use something to brighten my eyes. I'm currently using theArbonne anti-aging facial line but I'm not thrilled with the eye cream.

CR :

I could sure use a good eye treatment!! I thought dark circles were the new thing!

melissa :

I am just about to do a favorite post too ;). You know how I LOVE my Philosophy Amazing Grace and I am anxious to hear how the eye treatment works!

Hmmm, I LOVE the CD show mascara, sad to hear the new one is not so great. Oh well, I'll stick with the one I love.

Katy :

I just ordered Tarte Mascara (Lights, Camera, Action...I think that's what it's called)...I'm hearing from people and revies that it's even better than Dior Show. I'll try it out and let you know.
I also ordered Lancome Cil's (again, I think that's what it is) mascara primer. Evidently it is suppose to be wonderful as well. My beautician recommended both products to me and her eyes looked amazing. She didn't have her mascara on when she came and put it on and showed me the difference. WOW!
I love the smell of Amazing Grace..I had the perfume and body lotion. I should've ordered more when I made my Sephora purchases.

Long comment, but maybe helpful for you.

Katy :

I have to correct myself. I meant REVIEWS rather than REVIES.

Jillian's Bella Rosa Antiques :

I totally need that! A good makeover, too. Sigh.

Jillian's Bella Rosa Antiques :

That would be a fun idea, a bloggyland makeover! How could we pull that one off?

Tracey :

let me know if the dark circles thing works... I have such bad dark circles and I can't seem to get rid of them no matter what I do!

(By the way, the bald comment on my blog cracked me up! YOu are so right!)

You deserve the treats, but I am sure you don't need them!

I have an awesome concealer at Ulta. It is called Cover Blend. Very plain packaging, but it works. I even use a blending brush.

Yes, I miss my sis! Her name is Elizabeth, but try not to post that name.

Hugs!
