Boo Mama's Christmas Tour of Homes 2007

12.17.2007

Welcome to my little corner of Boo Mama's Christmas Tour of Homes. Come on in and stay awhile, the coffee's on and the cookies are warm.

Our family - taken this fall.

This is the keeping room - the epicenter of our house - built as a new addition this summer. The area with the chairs was previously a screened in porch. The area with the sectional is a new addition. This is taken from my kitchen. My regular readers got the week-by-week rundown of this house project. We finally finished painting and furnishing the room this fall. (My mom and sister-in-law are anxiously awaiting these photos!)

More shots of the new keeping room...

I don't do lots of big decorating, but I do like to do little vignettes around the house. Here are a couple of my favorite santas and the little tree I used to use in my apartment in my single days. I've added picks of berries and pine cones.

This is my snowman collection - I have nearly 80. I've purchased a few, but the majority have been given to me as gifts. They are really getting A LOT of attention this year from a certain 2-year old little boy. If it gets too quiet in the house causing me to say, "Where are you, Adam?" A little voice replies, "Touchin' mama's no-men."

Every year my husband and I have been married we have a custom picture frame made to hold that year's Christmas photo. Here are 2003 (left) and 2004.

Here are 2005 (left) and 2006. 2005 was a very special year. Our son Adam was born December 16th so our Christmas card was used as the birth announcement. The message said "Look what we found under our tree."

My favorite decorating project is doing the mantle for Christmas. Stockings hold a special childhood memory for me. We had a fireplace and mantle growing up, but our stockings were always hung on either side of the window behind our TV.

And finally, my home tour ends with our tree. I love every single picture of a Christmas tree I've ever seen. And the blog world this year has been filled with pictures and stories of favorite ornaments, and I love every single one of those, too. Our tree holds ornaments we've purchased or have been given since we were married in 2003 (our anniversary is New Year's Eve!)

Thanks for stopping by.

From our family to yours - Have a very Merry Christmas!

Megan (FriedOkra) :

Really beautiful... I love that new room. My husband and I are from Atlanta (we're in Chicago now) and I got a little bit homesick just looking out your windows! The snowmen are wonderful - I seem to be leaning toward them for a collection, too, although I only have one or two right now. I think they're neat because you can leave them out well beyond Christmas and they're not out of place. Merry Christmas!

Karla ~ Ainsley's Mom :

Thank you for the tour of your beautiful home. I love the outside of your home with the wreaths. It reminds me of something one would see on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens.

Robin :

Jill, you might not over decorate, but what you've done is beautiful. We have most of our annual pictures in frames, but they're store-bought. I think it's fun to collect something...1) it helps friends/family know what to get for ya sometime, and 2) it's a delight to think about each piece, who gave it, the place it was bought, etc.

So glad Boo gave me a reason to visit you again...I've missed my Atlanta bloggity friend :).
