Snips and Snails and Sheep Legs

4.09.2008

I've learned the hard way that I must check all pockets on Adam's clothing prior to washing.

Usually I find wood chips from the playground at school. Once in awhile I find a rock or....

....ahhemmm!!!

a candy wrapper!

Last night, however, imagine my surprise when I reached in and pulled out a tiny plastic animal leg with a hoof at the end.

Adam, what's this? A horse leg?

No, mama! Dat's a sheep leg!

Hmmmm. Wonder where that came from?

It came from da sheep at school wiff only three legs.

Backpacks....not just for papers and books anymore.

Is there a special pocket for severed sheep legs?

I love that...kids are toooo great! My oldest niece, who is now 13, used to come home from daycare when she was about 2 or 3 with things in her underwear that she wanted to ask her mom about...one time she came home with a mouthpiece to a football helmet that she'd found on the playground..YUCK! I love those stories!

Amber Kay :

I love how he's so matter of fact about it. Like you should have known if came from the lamb at school with 3 legs! HA!

Just Mom :

LOL.

Just Son hasn't started collecting odds and ends yet. Can't wait to see what he brings home.

Jill,

That is so funny. I'm sure pocket-checking is in my future! =)

Kari :

That's so cute! I cannot tell you how many candy wrappers, rocks, pencils, erasers, etc. I have pulled out of my boys' pockets.

Knit-Wit :

Funny - I'm always finding things in pockets around here too. Once I washed my hubby's coveralls with a paint marker in it. Sigh.....

I feel your pain. When my son takes his shoes off after school, the floor is covered with wood chips from the playground. He hasn't had a sheep's leg in his shoe, but you just never know. :)

I have been known to wash ipods, cell phones, ear phones, wallets... you name it!
He's so cute.

Oh my heavens he is too cute. With teaching preschool my little ones are always bringing in fun things, some of which I recognize and some of which I don't. :) Great post about Coach Self. We are huge Memphis fans and were seriously disappointed but I thought it was neat to read that he is a friend of your family.
Blessings,
Linda

Tonja :

He's a cutie! How clever of him to realize the sheep had only 3 legs since he had the 4th....smart boy, that Adam!

Oh it's not just boys! Savannah is notrious for putting things in her pockets. We had everything from rocks, bugs, etc. It truly amazes me the things she finds. Just wait he will be asking for containers to put bugs, snakes, etc. in! Good luck and remember to check the pockets!!

Sandy :

Too funny! My middle one still stuffs his pockets with stuff - gum, pencils, pens, etc. and they get washed and dried weekly - I always forget to look!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandy :)

You're right...you just never know what you'll find in a boy's pockets.

Hugs!

Susan :

Don't you love it now that he can respond verbally??? What fun!!

Melissa in Mel's World :

Jill,

That's awesome!!! And he's so matter of fact about it...

And, as a future reference point...as the mom of two boys (now 12 and 14) you must ALWAYS check the pockets! (Just be prepared...you never know what you might find).
